some notes on mediasemiotics
for March 10, 2005
1. all students successfully invited to join this blog space, and half of them join to be members within one day. How amazing!
2. we, albert and students, all agree to choose "film semiology" (trans. Liu Sen-yau) as the textbook for the course. hopefully, this arrangement will make everybody feel more "safe" and secure in your study. BTW, Vielen Dank! for students volunteer to order copies of the books. We always admire this spirit of service. :)
3. to better understand and get ready for film analysis (on their film languages, and the historical contexts of semiotic production....), we agree to view and discuss "Reviewing the old films: histories of Taiwanese cinema" and the "masterpieces of filmmakers" in the class. many thanx for "Goddess"(?) for her kindness to help make copies for everyone. again, it's good to feel the warmth of sharing and sacrifice. :)
4) we review some of your proposals and comments in class. that was great! i always enjoy read those promising and potential ideas from you. and i know more about your academic background (how much you probably know about semiotics....through reading translation books published by Yuanliu....).
5) last, you're still free to provide suggestions about the course arrangement both on theoretical concepts and film screening... or anything you'd like say! simply post your ideas HERE on the blogspot! SEE, that's how we can make most of the space.
cheers, i enjoy the laughter and tears, and complaint (if any) arousing from you.
albert
